Alicia Norman will serve as the Executive Director of Perea Elementary School. She has served as the Principal of Perea Preschool for 13 years where she has been employed through Church Health since June of 2001. She has been in Early Childhood Education for over 20 years.

Perea serves 164 preschoolers and their families, whom 86% fall below, the federal poverty line. The faculty and staff of Perea strive to provide an active learning environment where children become self-confident, creative, and socially well adjusted. This environment will prepare children for academic and life success through kindergarten readiness and Social Emotional Wellness. Each fall 60-70% of the students that enter Perea scores delayed or very delayed on the BSRA National Standardized test upon entry. After two years of high quality instruction, 87- 93% of the students score average or above average on the BSRA which is a very dependable indicator of kindergarten readiness.

She is considered a leader in education. She serves on the CPAC Advisory Council for Shelby County School Pre-K Division. She served on the TAEYC and MAEYC boards in Memphis and Nashville, TN. She has led her school/staff through NEAYC Accreditation for two terms. She is a part of Leadership Memphis 2014 Class.

experience has been with a well-known not for profit providing medical and wellness services to the underserved in the Memphis community.

Her skills include strategic planning, budgeting, coaching and personnel development, human resources, legal compliance and risk management and operations.

Michaelia’s service to the community as a volunteer has included serving with City Beautiful,
United Way, reading to children and assisting teachers with classroom activities, and Girl Scouts to name a few.

With a degree in psychology and postgraduate work in counseling, Martha Boyd brings sensitivity to the critical importance of social-emotional learning for the educational development of young children.

Martha Boyd, now retired, has almost 20 years of experience working in the Memphis non-profit community recruiting volunteers, fundraising, writing newsletters and grant requests, as well as providing emotional and tactical support for volunteers.

Before her retirement in 2014, Martha coordinated 3 Habitat Home builds for Holy Communion Church where she acted as social outreach director and then served as Development Director of Trezevant, a continuing care retirement community.

Kelley Nichols is an educator and speaker who specializes in working with other educators to find innovative and sustainable ways to transform teaching and learning.

Her areas of expertise include designing innovative learning experiences, professional learning and community building.  Kelley graduated in 2014 from Nova Southeastern University with her Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction and in 2019 from St. Thomas University with her Doctorate of Education in Leadership and Management.

During her 19 years in education, Kelley has taught infants/toddlers, preschool, and elementary school. In 2014, she transitioned into charter management in a leadership role, assisting with teacher professional development and growth that would directly affect student academic outcomes.  Currently, Kelley serves as the VP of Teacher Excellence for Porter-Leath.  The Teacher Excellence Program works to train over 300 teachers each year on  an understanding of proven teaching skills that drive student achievement and how to build a culture of excellence.

Kelley is passionate about the children of Memphis and the work of Perea Elementary.

A twenty year resident of Memphis and dedicated philanthropist, Kathryn quickly recognized many opportunities to assist non-profit organizations. She was taught at an early age that to whom much is given much is expected.

Through the years in Memphis, Kathryn has held positions such as the Treasurer of the Junior League of Memphis, Secretary of Economic Opportunities (a division of the Memphis Leadership Foundation), Treasurer and President of the Memphis Kappa Alpha Theta Alumnae Chapter and volunteered with numerous other organizations.

While all of these roles have enriched her life, her participation in the Memphis Leadership Academy solidified her commitment to Education of the Children of Memphis. During her fellows year in the program, all participants were required to watch a film on the History of Memphis, spotlighting many highlights as well as disappointments of Memphis. The most intriguing fact Kathryn learned about Memphis was the Yellow Fever Epidemic, the root of the education problem in Memphis. Kathrp specializes in serving Depository Entities, Insurance Companies, Money Managers and the Governmental Sector including School Districts as a Fixed Income Broker at Raymond James. Developing comprehensive investment portfolio analysis, product information, budgets, growth models and cash flow analysis ard daily tasks she performs.

What do those matter if a child in Memphis is not learning? Not Graduating? Kathryn wanted to find a way to utilize her talents to assist in giving each child of Memphis the opportunity to achieve an education and be a contributing citizen of Memphis. Through an outreach at Christmas many years ago, Kathryn was introduced to Perea Preschool. She knew she found her conduit, her vehicle of change to assist the children of Memphis.

Darnell Moses is a leader. Someone who demonstrates character and competency in the areas of qualified, servant, and shared leadership. He wears many hats as a husband, father, friend, and business professional.

Darnell has 20 years of experience as an IT Professional. He currently holds a position as Director of IT for Memphis based Better Days Tax Service. He has played a critical role in the expansion of their operations locally and regionally with the use of technology. The operation has grown from one office is 2007 to twenty-five in 2018 and hundreds of virtual offices.
Darnell has also held IT positions with Gateway Computers, Memphis/Shelby County Library, and Memphis City Schools where he took many opportunities to speak, train and mentor.
Darnell is also a Logistics Professional with 13 years of experience. His current position is Supervisor Operations Field with FedEx Custom Critical – Temperature Controlled Network. The Temperature Control Network is a time definite LTL, a refrigerated network dedicated to the Pharmaceutical and Diagnostics industry. During his career with FedEx, Darnell has launched initiatives for scanning and tracking freight within the Temperature Controlled Network.
Darnell was born and raised in the Memphis, TN. He holds a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Electronics Engineering Technology from ITT Technical Institute, Master Certificate in Supply Chain Management from the University of San Francisco and a Professional Certificate in Lean Six Sigma from Villanova University.
He is committed to the community serving where needed.
